About the FSU & the survey
Our Mission
The Financial Services Union is the leading trade union representing staff in the financial services sector.
We have approximately 15,000 members located in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
Our members share common values – a commitment to decency, fairness and respect in our workplaces.
We support thousands of members building their career in the financial services sector – in banks, fintech companies, the life assurance sector and specialist support firms.
We are the collective voice of staff in some of the leading financial institutions across Ireland and beyond. Built on a network of locally elected representatives, we pride ourselves on being our members’ voice in negotiations with employers on critical issues such as pay, working time, leave and health and safety.
We also provide a professional advice, support and representative service for members on an individual level. Our trained workplace representatives fight to ensure that each member is treated fairly in the workplace.
Working collectively we can also secure great benefits for members on important services such as car, health and home insurance and a range of other services.
The Financial Services Union wants to support you in your career in financial services.

Survey FAQ
Let us take a look at some of your questions and concerns around taking part.
Its too long.
We’ve road tested the survey ourselves, honestly it takes approximately five minutes to do it. If you feel stuck on any questions or have difficulty answering them, feel free to skip them. Any contribution you make will greatly help us paint a picture of conditions in finance and banking today.
Why would I bother?
This survey will help the Financial Services Union to understand the issues facing finance workers in Ireland, and better represent our members as a result. We want the best possible terms and conditions possible for everyone working in financial services.
What’s a union?
A union is an organisation which aims to improve the working lives of our members. In practise, we offer our support, expertise and experience to members in dealing with any issues they face at work. We aim to improve terms and conditions by negotiating with employers and campaigning.
Whats the union done for me?
Many of the workplace benefits we now take for granted were won by workers in unions who campaigned and fought for a better deal at work. In Finance, the FSU seeks to ensure that there is a strong floor below which conditions can not fall. Many union members have benefited directly from our representation, advice and assistance at work.
We’re not allowed be part of a union so I can't take the survey?
Wrong. Everyone on the island of Ireland has the right to be part of trade union. Tens of thousands of workers in finance in over 50 companies are members. Your right to be part of a union is protected by legislation. You can take the survey at any time that suits you. The survey is completely secure, and no one will know you have filled it out.
What will the FSU do with the survey results?
The FSU will use the results of the survey to campaign for better terms and condition across the sector. The results will be be publicised, but your participation is confidential.
I’m worried about my data and details.
